Given a challenge we have made a horrible mess of things…

I have been reading and re-reading a book called “The End of Religion” By Bruxy Cavey. And there has been a lot of things in this book I really have never considered. Based on the information in this book every religion, denomination and structure humanity has used to try to capture the teachings of Jesus Christ has been going the wrong way. This is big considering Jesus never came to start any religion but to point out directions within the Jewish community that where distracting from having a relationship with his father. And this was not to point the blame at anyone nationality but the rules and interpretation of a people and to correct it. However, this meet with great resistance and ultimately the system in place at the time crucified Jesus for such radical thinking. To day that Crucification continues, for anyone new Christ follower that actually gets what it means is Crucified by congregations, churches and religions for not following the rules they believe get them closer to God.

I find in the talks I have with people that Religions the world over (and none are spared from this) have denied people and seekers because you happen to not “fit” into what they considered to be their calling. I know several denominations that only focus their efforts on specific nationalities, but this would be the same as in the Old testament the message only being for the Jewish people. But Jesus didn’t say that, he said every man, women and child was entitled to his salvation and not just a specific nationality. I find that so many people get things wrong and then deliberately hurt others, they shoot down your efforts to help out, they demoralize you if your different and they stand behind their religion if called to fight for it. And all the while those seekers are watching you and seeing how you besmirch the Gospel and proclaim your following it. But your not, your taking things into your own hands and your turning people off.

I am not saint in this but I have realized that what works I do are being watched and work to make sure people know. A point that Pastor Will pointed out in the Western Wheel this last week was if you have a fish emblem on your car then this means your being judged based on your driving. If you drive horribly you do no service to the kingdom. And I think this is a way to say that even in our lives our hands bare the marks of our savior and our works are being watched. If we stood for our beliefs then society would see we are genuine. But because we shoot down each other and others we are essentially nailing Jesus to the cross again and again.

I find that I am faced with looking for other work and stumbled across maybe I could sell some things to tide me over to the fall when the job market picks up.

Stand up for something in life, and if it is the work of Jesus then show it every day. Hiding it means nothing.

I like what you wrote in the above article Cam. I believe and love, with every fibre of my being…God/Jehovah, Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit. I truly don’t know how people go from day to day without knowing God’s love and the incredible sacrifice that His only begotten son endured on everyone’s behalf….in order for each and everyone of us can have the opportunity to spend eternity with them.

    Good job.
